Located in the Val D'Orcia Region, Aiola is a strikingly beautiful, restored country house that is part of a 1700-acre estate. An intimate, luxurious haven, Aiola is ideal for private getaways and family reunions. Larger groups can also rent Villa Monticchia, which is part of the same estate. This lovely villa is located in the Val d'Orcia region, south of Tuscany. This extraordinarily beautiful stretch of Italy sits between Rome and Florence with open, breathtaking views of Mount Amiata. Aiola is very close to San Casciano dei Bagni, a beautiful unspoiled medieval village that is one of the well-kept secrets of this special region. The property's ground floor features a spacious living/game room with a billiard and gambling table. There is a lovely dining area with an open kitchen corner with direct access to the garden. Also on the ground floor are a queen bedroom and twin bedroom, each with its own private bathroom. Aiola's first level provides special spaces for dining and relaxation. The reception/living hall with fireplace, living/TV room and elegant dining room provide ideal gathering spaces for guests. The master suite has a queen-sized bedroom and a private bathroom with shower. Two twin bedrooms, one full bedroom and two additional bathrooms make this a wonderful place to share with friends and family. Wander outside the villa and you can revel in the carefully tended gardens and extensive lawn, ideal for lounging. Take a walk in Aiola's private woods, or as an alternative, while away an afternoon dining al fresco in the private pergola, taking breaks for a refreshing dip in Aiola's impressive and beautiful swimming pool. Additional InformationSPECIAL CHARACTERISTICS Aiola provides maximum comfort in a peaceful, refined and very private atmosphere. Guests can enjoy walks and bike rides through the property's private paths, and visits to nearby Montepulciano, Montalcino, and Cetona -- famous for their history, cuisine and wineries. A one-kilometer trail leads from the villa to the town of Sarteano. Also close is San Casciano Dei Bagni - its old Roman Spa has recently been refurbished offering a natural hot water pool, beauty and health treatments. Among the magnificent qualities of Aiola is its cuisine, supervised by a Tuscan cook who has mastered the traditional culinary skills of the region. What to do in the Val d'Orcia area of Tuscany? The Orcia valley lies in the southern part of the province of Siena, between the slopes of Mount Amiata and the hills that descend toward the Chiana valley, between the fortress of Radicofani and that of Montalcino. This area features well-known architectural and artistic sites such as Pienza, Montalcino (famous for its Brunello wine), and the medieval thermal baths of Bagno Vignoni. Perfect for scenic drives, the area is brimming with lovely vista views ranging from the picture-perfect hills and valleys to the clay slopes dotted with cypress trees and white roads that wind away to poderi (farming estates), grain towers and ancient monasteries. Recommendations Don't miss San Casciano Dei Bagni, where you can indulge in a day spa at the new well-being center. Special programs including treatments at the spa can be arranged upon request. The special features of this area were well described by Travel & Leisure: "It was the Etruscans who first discovered the healing properties of the thermal waters in Tuscany's Val d'Orcia. Now the baths built there by the Medici family in the 17th century have been reborn as a luxurious new spa..." (October 2002). The enchanting town of Cetona will charm you with its cobblestone streets and medieval architecture. This enchanting village has grown in popularity as a home for international artists and socialites. Stop for an exquisite lunch or dinner at Osteria Vecchia (so good!)—you won't be disappointed. Definitely worth a visit are Orvieto, Assisi and Todi. Head to Deruta (80 minutes) to shop for the renowned local ceramics. Last but not least, make sure to check out the chocolate museum in Perugia!
