On the southern hills of Florence stands a luxurious country villa at the end of a great driveway of ancient cypresses. Villa Le Rose is built around a courtyard and surrounded by gardens and olive groves.

The villa is built on several floors in the typical aristocratic layout. On the ground floor is the Sala delle Feste, a ballroom which is a fine example of 18th century country residential architecture, leads into a spacious living room with frescoed walls, a welcoming study and a comfortable dining room. The Baldacchino Suite, also on the ground level, is distinctive for the richness of this furnishings and decorations, with a great canopied bed and an entirely frescoed bathroom with fireplace.

On the upper floor are five suites, each of them embellished with original furnishings, decorated ceilings and large windows opening onto a striking unforgettable landscape.

Next to the villa is the cedar garden: a sweeping lawn enclosed by high hedges and ancient trees, embellished by antique rose bushes and pietra serena pedestals bearing potted lemon trees, and a 300-year-old Lebanese cedar.

Villa History

Villa Le Rose is a Medici villa commissioned by the Marchese Niccolò Antinori in the 15th century. It remained in the Antinori's possession until the beginning of the last century, when the family sold the property.

In the 1980's, Leonardo and Beatrice Ferragamo bought the villa it and made it their home. The owners' affection for the villa motivated them to carry out a restoration project, which was completed in 2003.

During the course of the refurbishment, the villa was fitted with all the modern comforts and practicalities while maintaining and enhancing its historical features.
