La Berretta is set on top of a hill overlooking 360 degrees of unspoilt, rolling Tuscan hills. While the restoration has been completedwith an eye to preserving the original stonework, vaulted ceilings and old beams, it has also given the villa a contemporary and luxurious feel - with its generous, light-filled rooms, open spaces, state-of-the art kitchen and bathrooms, not to mention the new 16.5m travertine salt-water pool and tennis court, set within the olive grove.

The property is conveniently divided between the 5-bedroom main house and the self-contained 3-bedroom annex, which makes it ideal for joint holidays with extended families and friends. The enormous pietra-serena terrace, with a wisteria-covered area for daytime alfresco dining, or indeed football playing, is the property's gathering point in the summer. In the evenings, dine under the stars and watch the flickering lights of distant hilltop villages.

Everyone can find a corner to retreat to - be it in the upstairs loggia, by the fireplace to read a book, in the snug room to watch a film, the piano room, or in the hammock under the cypress tress to have an afternoon nap.

Children have their own wooden climbing frame to have fun on, and the 70-hectare property is a safe haven in which to go for long walks, with tracks through the fields and forest taking you to a small river.
